Lightbits Labs Shares NVME/TCP Expertise in Presentations at Flash Memory Summit 2019

Lightbits Labs Hosts First Hand-On Lab for NVMe™/TCP in Cloud Data Center

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--()--Executives from Lightbits Labs will discuss the state of NVMe™/TCP during multiple sessions at the Flash Memory Summit 2019 (FMS) in Santa Clara, Aug. 5-9. In addition, Lightbits will host the first hands-on lab for NVMe™/TCP in a cloud data center, and will demonstrate its full line of disaggregated storage solutions, including its LightOS® software, LightField™ storage acceleration card and SuperSSD, the industry’s first scalable, Ethernet-attached SSD Storage Appliance. Additionally, International Computer Concepts (ICC) will demonstrate its latest storage solution with NVMe/TCP and Lightbits LightOS in Booth #848.

WHAT/WHEN:

Lightbits executives will participate in the following FMS 2019 educational and hands-on sessions:

  • Mon., Aug. 5th at 1:00 pm, Room 204, “Pre-conference Session: NVMe/TCP and Hands-on Workshop with Lightbits Labs”; Lightbits Principal Architect Orit Wasserman will lead a hands-on session for a self-guided tour of NVMe/TCP. Developers will learn not just the theory of NVMe/TCP, but also how to hack, break and play with it in a cloud data center and will test how to connect to remote NVMe/TCP block devices for use with applications that will use NVMe/TCP to connect to Lightbits LightOS servers in the Packet cloud. Register here and bring your laptop.

  • Tues., Aug. 6th at 8:30 am - GAMR 1, “Open Channel SSDs for Host-Based Optimization”; Lightbits’ Sr. Solutions Architect Roy Shterman will present his paper, jointly published with Chief Technology Officer Muli Ben-Yehuda, “A Global FTL Architecture to Drive Multiple SSDs,” highlighting the architecture and design of the LightOS Global Flash Translation Layer (GFTL). The session will show that when it comes to NVMe SSDs united under the LightOS Global FTL, the sum is truly greater than its parts.

  • Tues., Aug. 6th at 3:40 pm, Ballroom D, – “NVME-MI: Overview & New Developments/NVMe-oF, What’s New in Version 1.1”; Lightbits’ Chief Software Architect and Co-Founder Sagi Grimberg will participate in this presentation, which provides an introduction to the NVMe-MI 1.1 specification and an overview of new items being standardized for NVMe-MI 1.2. NVMe over Fabrics 1.1 is the latest version of the NVMe over Fabrics standard that accompanies the NVMe 1.4 standard.

  • Wed., Aug. 7th at 8:30 am, GAMR 2, – “PCIe/NVMe Issues”; Lightbits’ Principal Architect Orit Wasserman will present her paper, “Boosting QLC SSD Performance and Endurance for Data Centers.”

  • Wed., Aug. 7th at 4:35 pm, Ballroom F, – “Leveraging NVMe-oF for Existing and New Applications”; Lightbits’ Chief Software Architect and Co-Founder Sagi Grimberg will chair this panel session and panel members will discuss application and use case examples leveraging NVMe-oF and will peek into the future of how NVMe-oF can enable new application use cases.

  • Thurs., Aug. 8th at 2:10 pm, Ballroom E – “Understanding NVMe over Fabrics on TCP”; Lightbits System Architect Alex Shpiner will present his paper, “An NVME/TCP Software-Defined Platform for Guaranteed QoS.”
