WESTMINSTER, Colo.--()--Brother Mobile Solutions, Inc. (BMS), a premier provider of mobile and desktop printers will meet with leading home healthcare providers to address industry transformation challenges and changing reimbursement models and their impact on home healthcare at the Senior Care 360 Strategy and Solutions Conference in National Harbor, Maryland, July 31-August 2, 2019.

The Senior Care Strategy and Solutions Conference (formerly Post Acute 360) is a premier industry event designed to help leading health care providers better navigate the emerging home care ecosystem and select the best solution partners to help their organizations elevate care delivery. The groundbreaking conference attracts senior leadership from all four sectors of post-acute care – home care, hospice, skilled nursing and senior living. The event offers education and networking sessions along with opportunities to meet individually with solution providers to learn about technologies designed to help home care agencies deliver optimum patient care in today’s fast-changing environment.

According to Greg O’Connell, Vice President at Brother Mobile Solutions, “We look forward to engaging discussions with top home health providers at Senior Care 360. This industry continues to evolve and transform with a growing number of mergers and acquisitions and new larger players and investors entering the market. Home healthcare is also impacted by changing Medicare reimbursement models where the current imbalance of reimbursements for home care is expected to shift so that more home care services are covered. These issues are driving providers to evaluate new integrated technology systems incorporating mobile printing at the point of care for greater efficiency, improved collaboration among care teams and better communication with patients and families.”

Payment and Regulatory Changes Drive Need for Efficient Care Delivery

According to the 2019 Home Healthcare Outlook Report from Home Healthcare News (HHCN)*, in the coming year providers will continue to prepare for the biggest change to home health care payments since the early 2000s — the Patient-Driven Groupings payment model. In a recent survey of 680 participants in the market, most providers reported they are at the beginning stages of making the new payment structure a reality, yet they remain challenged by staffing-related issues, along with a need to evaluate and adopt technology to provide more efficient care in this new era of reimbursement models.

The survey further indicates regulatory compliance is a top driver of change when it comes to technology platforms (53%), followed by payment and reimbursement challenges (51%), and the need to reduce operating costs with new technology platforms(42%). O’Connell notes, “Today’s homecare providers can clearly benefit from integrated technology systems that make home caregiving more efficient. For example, home care software systems paired with mobile printers offer a seamless path to managing home care and follow-up by enabling visiting nurses or other caregivers to leave behind full-page printed documents and care instructions so they are available for all.”

Mobile Printing at the Point of Care

In the home healthcare environment, the Brother PocketJet line of mobile full-page printers enables clinicians and other types of care professionals to wirelessly print from practically any PC, smartphone, or tablet. Documents key to home care include detailed medication lists, drug interaction data, patient safety and care instructions, plans of care, references for family and auxiliary caretakers, medical test results and transferred patient medical records.
