MEXICO CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Carlos De la Torre, senior director, business development and operations, AM Best América Latina, will speak at the Caribbean Association of Insurance Regulators’ 2019 Conference and Workshop, being held June 19–21, 2019, at the Pegasus Hotel in Georgetown, Guyana.
De la Torre will lead a presentation, titled, “Weathering the Storms – Resilience in the Caribbean Insurance Sector,” which will detail the key findings from AM Best’s most-recent survey of the Caribbean Association of Insurance Regulators (CAIR) member countries. A series of natural disasters in 2017 resulted in dramatic losses in several Caribbean countries; however, survey results show that despite the catastrophes, the overall Caribbean insurance industry remained profitable. De la Torre also will discuss regional reinsurance trends. The session is scheduled for Friday, June 21, at 8.30 a.m. GYT.
CAIR was established to improve communication, information sharing and research among the region’s regulators, given the region’s cultural, economic, and political diversity. CAIR is charged with implementing regulatory standards and practices among member regulators in accordance with worldwide standards and best practices.
