HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Opportune LLP, a global provider of business advisory services to the energy industry, is pleased to announce that Shaun Ahn has joined the firm as Managing Director to lead its Tax Advisory practice. Mr. Ahn brings nearly 20 years of corporate tax consulting, tax law, accounting, financial reporting and legal experience to the firm where his principal focus will be on corporate and operational finance, M&A advisory and tax consulting and compliance.
Prior to joining Opportune, Mr. Ahn was Head of Tax at Westlake Chemical Corp. where he was responsible for the company’s overall tax function. While at Westlake Chemical, Mr. Ahn successfully executed the Axiall and Nakan acquisitions and integrated the tax functions, initiated new tax planning strategies and financing structures, implemented process improvements and tax technology, advised MLP transactions, as well as provided M&A support, deal modelling, and management preparation, among other duties. Mr. Ahn began his career specializing in corporate and operational tax advisory at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Throughout his career, Mr. Ahn has held senior positions at ExxonMobil Corp., Occidental Petroleum Corp., Weatherford International Ltd. and Shell Oil Co.

Mr. Ahn holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Central Washington University. He earned his MBA and J.D. degrees from Rutgers University and holds an LLM post-graduate law degree from New York University School of Law. Mr. Ahn is also a licensed attorney admitted to practice in the States of Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia.
