Books-A-Million Exceeds Donation Goal with over 100,000 Bags of Coffee for U.S. Troops and Veterans

U.S. troops and VA hospitals across the country will receive donated coffee bags from the biannual Coffee for the Troops campaign with Soldiers’ Angels

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--()--U.S. troops serving overseas will soon have a familiar taste of home thanks to the generous community members who participated in Books-A-Million’s 13th Coffee for the Troops campaign with Soldiers’ Angels. Throughout Military Appreciation Month in May, customers had the opportunity to show their patronage for the country’s heroes by donating a bag of freshly ground Joe Muggs coffee. Books-A-Million guests gave 85,000 bags of coffee, and the book store chain contributed one for every five bags donated – pushing the total to over 100,000 bags of coffee to give to those who serve as well as veterans and VA hospitals across the country.

“Coffee for the Troops is just a small opportunity to show our troops and veterans how thankful we are for their service,” said Matt Krenza, vice president of the food division at Books-A-Million. “Without our generous customers and partnership with Soldiers’ Angels, we wouldn’t be able to provide brave soldiers with a sense of familiarity while they selflessly serve and protect our country. I’m proud to share that we exceeded this year’s goal by more than 40 percent!”

Since 2012, Books-A-Million has partnered with Soldiers’ Angels to donate more than 750,000 bags of coffee to veterans and VA hospitals in the United States, as well as to troops currently serving overseas. Each year, Coffee for the Troops has surpassed its donation goals thanks to the generosity of supporters all across the country.

Customers also had the opportunity to write a personalized message on the donated bags to express their appreciation to the U.S. soldiers and veterans.
