Colorful Fruit Themed Mural to Be Unveiled by Portraits of Hope Artist and Activist Ed Massey at Los Sures Housing Community in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, May 16, 2019

Expansive mural to serve as a nutritious and healthful reminder for the community during the 4-5 years before the fruit trees yield a harvest

NEW YORK--()--A vibrant, colorful fruit mural painted by Portraits of Hope artist and activist, Ed Massey, will be unveiled at the vitafusion™ Gummy Vitamins and The Fruit Tree Foundation planting at the Southside United HDFC - Los Sures community located at 366 Hewes Street, Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday May 16, 2019 from 10:00am-Noon. The 8’x15’ mural will beautify and serve as a nutritious and healthful reminder as the trees grow during the 4-5 years before they yield fruit.

“While the fruit tree orchards of apple, orange, pear and cherry fruit trees, will provide nutritious organic sustenance to serve this vibrant community in Williamsburg, Brooklyn for generations to come, I created a colorful reminder for the residents of the bounty that will take 4-5 years to grow and harvest fruit,” says artist Ed Massey. “The mural will also serve as a reminder to nurture, and care for the new orchard.”

The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation is an international nonprofit dedicated to planting edible, fruitful trees and plants to benefit the environment and its inhabitants. The vitafusion brand has been partnering with the Foundation since 2017 with the goal of planting 200,000 fruit trees by 2020, generating 28 million pieces of fruit and 33 million pounds of oxygen in those communities that need them most. Trees have already been planted at public schools, city parks, community gardens, low-income neighborhoods, international hunger relief sites, and animal sanctuaries, and in hurricane-struck areas. Previous plantings include Houston, TX; Staten Island, NY; Bronx, NY; Miami, FL.; El Salvador; and Uganda, encouraging their growth under organic standards.

“We must all join together, with the support of organizations like the vitafusion Gummy Vitamin brand and The Fruit Tree Foundation, to provide a clean, safe and beautiful environment, full of access to fresh, nutritious fruit, and encourage everyone to help make a positive impact in the environment we all share.”

Ed Massey’s 8’ x 15’ fruit themed mural is available for all to see on Wednesday May 16, 2019.
