Schwan’s Home Service Embarks on New Journey as an Independent Company

Schwan family retains 100 percent ownership of one of the country’s leading home delivery businesses

MARSHALL, Minn.--()--Schwan’s Home Service, a leading food-delivery company in the United States, announced today that the business is officially operating independently from its parent organization, Schwan’s Company. The organizational transition comes as part of CJ CheilJedang’s acquisition of Schwan’s Company, which closed today.

The transaction between CJCJ and Schwan’s Company, previously announced late last year, includes CJCJ acquiring a majority stake in Schwan’s Company and specific Schwan’s subsidiaries that focus on foods sold in retail and grocery channels as well as food-service venues. The sale also includes the company’s manufacturing and logistics operations and various professional and administrative services.

The Schwan family has retained a minority stake ownership in the businesses being sold to CJCJ. Additionally, the family will maintain 100 percent ownership in Schwan’s Home Service, which represents the company’s legacy home-delivery business launched by the late Marvin Schwan in 1952. Schwan’s Home Service will continue to operate as a privately held, independent company under the Schwan family’s ownership.
