First Data and Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Develop Pilot Program for Mobile Payments Through a Partnership with Clover

More than 400 troops across metropolitan Atlanta will use Clover devices to enable cashless cookie sales; Cookie Booths Begin February 18

ATLANTA--()--This year, metropolitan Atlanta customers will have the opportunity to purchase their favorite Girl Scout Cookies via First Data’s cloud-based mobile payment platform called Clover. Clover is a market-leading point-of-sale platform used by more than one million merchants globally. Clover enables customers to pay using a debit/credit card in addition to smart pay options such as Apple, Google and Samsung Pay.

As part of a pilot program, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Council has partnered with First Data to supply Clover devices to more than 400 Girl Scout Troops across the metropolitan Atlanta area during the busiest season for all Girl Scouts… Cookie Season!

“We are excited to provide cutting-edge technology options to our girl entrepreneur leaders. It is our goal to make sure they have the tools that will allow them to have a successful cookie business. Girl Scouts has been the leader in encouraging girls to use technology to improve their lives and the lives of others and we look forward to the success these select troops will have this year using Clover,” said Alantria Harris, Sr. Director, Product Programs and Retail, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta.

“We are excited to help the Girl Scouts utilize Clover to drive more cookie sales and learn how technology is fundamentally changing the world of commerce,” said John Beatty, Founder, Clover.

In 2015, Girl Scouts of the USA launched “Digital Cookie,” a program that answered the request of troops to allow girls to sell cookies via their own personal website to family and friends. Since its inception, the program represents 12% of Greater Atlanta’s overall cookie program sales. Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta is ranked 3rd in National Digital Cookie sales and #1 in the Southeast. 2019 has seen a 15% growth in the number of girls who have Digital Cookie websites compared to the same timeframe in 2018.

If customers are looking to buy Girl Scout Cookies on the spot, troops will be selling direct to the public at cookie booths in the Atlanta area beginning February 18, and select troops will have Clover devices in-hand for customers to make their purchase. To find a cookie booth near you, visit showmethecookies.com and enter your zip code to find the dates, times and locations of a Girl Scout Cookie Booth in your area.
