Kaplan Test Prep to Hold Free, Livestreamed Events on December 9 and 11 to Answer Students’ and Parents’ Questions about the PSAT®

NEW YORK--()--For aspiring college students, December isn’t all about vacation planning and gift shopping. Many are also receiving their PSAT scores and understanding how they affect their college planning. To help, Kaplan Test Prep is hosting "PSAT Scores: What's Next?" Kaplan experts will answer families' most frequently asked questions, including: what do the PSAT scores mean, how can students improve, and how can they earn thousands of dollars in available scholarships? The livestreamed event will take place on Sunday, December 9, and Tuesday, December 11, at 7 PM ET on both dates. The timing of the events coincide with the expected release of PSAT scores from the October exam on December 10-12.

Among the most frequently asked questions to be answered and discussed:

  • I just got my PSAT Score: What are my next steps?
  • How is the PSAT scored?
  • What is a good PSAT score?
  • What is the PSAT vs. the SAT?
  • How does a good PSAT score translate into National Merit Scholarship money?

“The PSAT is the starting line of the college admissions process, and a great score can get students on the college radar for recruitment and scholarship money,” said Brian Carlidge, executive director of college admissions programs, Kaplan Test Prep. “With $180 million in National Merit scholarships awarded to top-scoring PSAT takers, we want to help students achieve their best possible PSAT scores and for parents to be well-informed. We’re excited to hold these live events delivered by dynamic experts, which will give attendees the ability to ask and have their questions answered in real time.”

To further prepare students for the college admissions process, Kaplan has also created two playlists of short videos about the PSAT, one for students, and one for high school counselors.
