Vanderbilt Law School Launches New PoLI Institute Immersion-Based Programs and Certificate in Law and Innovation

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Today, Vanderbilt Law School and its Program on Law and Innovation (PoLI) officially launched the PoLI Institute and a new Certificate in Law and Innovation program. The PoLI Institute introduces a practical educational opportunity for both practicing attorneys and legal professionals, reaching far beyond the impact of hourly CLE courses.

Unique to Vanderbilt Law School, the Certificate in Law and Innovation Program provides a series of in-depth, live and in-person Immersion courses (“Immersions”) that will be held at the Wond'ry innovation center on Vanderbilt’s Nashville campus. The initial curriculum includes 7 courses in 2019 and more will be offered in 2020.

Cat Moon, Director of Innovation Design at Vanderbilt Law, explains: “The Certificate curriculum delivers more concentrated and vertically-focused content supporting innovation in legal services delivery than any currently available CLE program or Master’s degree. PoLI Institute Immersions are available to lawyers, legal administrators, paralegals, legal assistants, and other professionals working within a law firm or corporate legal department.”

Each PoLI Immersion course consists of two 8-hour days of experiential learning through collaborative and practical application of knowledge. PoLI Immersions provide relevant, powerful innovation tools for reimagining and transforming legal practice and services delivery. Lawyers receive their Certificate once they have completed 6 Immersions within 36 months.

The Institute's first course, Legal Project Management 2.0 Immersion, will commence on February 2-3, 2019 at Vanderbilt. Facilitated by Larry Bridgesmith, PoLI Coordinator and professor in Legal Project Management (LPM) at Vanderbilt, this Immersion is built on the Legal Project Management Competence Framework (LPMCF) international standard and teaches the core competencies for a Legal Project Associate as certified by the International Institute of Legal Project Management.

Bridgesmith notes: "Legal Project Management provides modern strategies to move legal matters forward efficiently and effectively. This inaugural Immersion course will teach attendees to actively apply LPM tools in diverse legal settings. Participants will also acquire practical strategies for gaining acceptance and support when integrating LPM successfully into their organization’s culture."

Each Immersion course costs $2200 with volume discounts available for attendees who register for 3 or more courses.
