LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Michael Shustek, a leading real estate investment company executive, sees word of Amazon’s potential split for growth with its second headquarters as a “win-win.”
“For Amazon, a split with two locations for their next headquarters will increase its worker pool, maximize subsidies and gain the best of both worlds for the locations chosen,” says Shustek, CEO of The Parking REIT. “As Amazon is in final negotiations with a few key regions, there is also word of South Florida as a key location and it has close proximity to Latin America and major transportation hubs as well.”
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Jimenez has told The Miami Herald, “There has not been radio silence.” South Florida business leaders are buzzing about HQ2 in the tri-county region including Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is originally from the Miami area and graduated from Palmetto High School.
“It is a brilliant idea to divide the Amazon headquarters,” says Shustek, an investor in South Florida himself. “With our country’s low unemployment, for a company to hire a large pool of high-caliber people in one area, well, that could be a daunting task.”
Shustek says that separation between subsidiaries of Amazon is a great idea. Amazon probably wouldn’t replicate the same jobs or services at each site.
“It is hard to doubt a trillion-dollar market cap company,” said Shustek. “This is not a public relations stunt. PR stunts could be handled much cheaper. This is a large business diversifying geographically, and expanding its talent pool and incentives into multiple regions.”
