SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Marten Law, a national leader in energy and environmental law, has expanded its litigation and transactional groups with the addition of two new attorneys, Jennifer Hammitt and Molly Barker.
Jennifer joins the firm from the EPA’s DC headquarters, where she was Chief eDiscovery Counsel and worked on some of the largest environmental cases in the country. Environmental lawyer Molly Barker, named one of Super Lawyers magazine’s “Rising Stars” in 2017 and 2018, also joins the firm.
“Both Jennifer and Molly are strong additions to the firm,” said Brad Marten, managing partner. “With their skills, we are able to continue to expand our practice to serve clients throughout the country and help solve their most challenging environmental matters.”
Jennifer Hammitt built and supervised the EPA’s eDiscovery and eDocument Collection Team. She was lead counsel in over 30 federal enforcement and defensive cases, and advised the EPA on production and evidentiary issues under the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, the Privacy Act of 1974, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Federal Records Act. She worked on multimillion-dollar Superfund cases like the Gold King Mine wastewater spill and the lower Passaic River site. Jennifer also served a lead role in managing discovery in the case brought by the Justice Department against Volkswagen for emissions violations, which resulted in one of the largest settlements in an environmental enforcement case. Hammitt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and English from the University of New Mexico, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude.
Molly Barker has established a successful practice in environmental, real estate and land-use law and expands Marten Law’s expertise in these areas. Her regulatory, transactional and compliance expertise includes work on cases involving the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Growth Management Act (GMA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) and Columbia River Treaty. Her strong professional standing includes experience supporting the Northwest Environmental and Business Council’s energy workshop this past June by moderating a panel titled, “Changing the Energy Landscape: How Renewables and Storage are Taking Over the Grid.” Barker graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Northeastern.
