Sputnik ATX Announces Launch of the Texas Startup Bible

Austin-Based Accelerator Creates Online Resource for Entrepreneurs

AUSTIN, Texas--()--Sputnik ATX, an Austin-based accelerator focused on growth companies, today announced the launch of the Texas Startup Bible, a free online platform for current and aspiring entrepreneurs. The site features content developed by Sputnik ATX as well as curated content vetted by Sputnik ATX, to provide a centralized resource of information for startup founders, designed to save them time and ultimately, money.

“Entrepreneurs and startup founders are confronted with a series of difficult choices regardless of the sector they plan to enter,” said Oksana Malysheva, CEO and Managing Partner of Sputnik ATX. “There is a category of mistakes that I have come to reference as ‘predictable and avoidable’ that seem to be common to most startup founders. This resource is designed to help navigate what is ultimately an overwhelming and thrilling experience for those involved in our program and those beyond our program, even outside of Austin. We are dedicated to propelling founders forward wherever they are, so we are very pleased to bring this resource online.”

The Texas Startup Bible courses offer an introductory version of the Sputnik curriculum, perfect for earlier stage companies or for those beginning to research how to start their own company. Courses cover topics including entrepreneurial networking events, legal help, human resources, accounting and fundraising.

In keeping with the Austin culture of collaboration, Sputnik ATX has invited other organizations in the area to partner and contribute. Current partners include Galvanize, Mass Challenge Texas, City of Austin Innovation Office, and DivInc. The platform also allows site users to ask questions and leave comment. In fact, The Texas Startup Bible was designed to be a living document, allowing Sputnik executives to update and adapt it as time goes on.

“The city of Austin is collaborative in nature,” said Joe Merrill, co-founder of Sputnik ATX. “We are excited to bring to Austin and to the greater startup community a platform that builds upon that nature and gives entrepreneurs the resources they need to succeed. We have built the Texas Startup Bible to save entrepreneurs time and money, equipping them with some of the most essential startup advice. At Sputnik ATX, we view ourselves as partners in successfully launching startup companies.”

Recent milestones for Sputnik ATX include:

  • A partnership with the University of Texas at Austin, which enables university-wide access to the Sputnik curriculum. Sputnik also announced it will invite one UT Austin student to participate in classes alongside each cohort.
  • Sputnik ATX seated its second cohort of startups in July and will open its next application round this fall.

The accelerator was born out of a venture fund founded by Dr. Oksana Malysheva and Joe Merrill. After investing in companies around the world, the entrepreneurial atmosphere of Austin inspired Malysheva and Merrill to consider the city as a new home for their efforts. Sputnik ATX launched on Oct. 4, 2017, the 60th anniversary of the Sputnik-1 satellite launch.
