UTRECHT, Netherlands & LONDON--()--Unit4, world leader in enterprise systems for services organizations, announces today a new contract to deliver ERP software and services to the SKA Organization. The SKA Organization is responsible for coordinating the global activities of the SKA project, a unique project to explore the Universe with the world's largest radio telescope.

The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project is an international effort to build the world’s largest radio telescope, consisting of two arrays of thousands of antennas spread over hundreds of kilometres in southern Africa and Australia. As one of the largest scientific endeavors in history, the SKA brings together over one thousand of the world’s finest scientists, engineers and policy makers to bring the project to fruition. From its central control hub with views of the iconic Lovell Telescope at Jodrell Bank Observatory, near Manchester, UK, SKA Organization supervises work in over 20 different countries and has an increasingly diverse and international workforce currently finalizing the design of the telescope before proceeding to its construction and operation in the next decade.

Unit4’s cloud ERP solution will support the not-for-profit organization to improve data and project management, and ensure operational efficiency across its diverse teams, while also supporting its ambitious international growth objectives. Unit4 Business World will provide real-time access to consolidated global project and financial data, so teams can respond to performance information quickly to ensure the project stays on track.

“This project is set to test the limits of human engineering and scientific endeavor over the coming decades. With so many people and organizations invested in the SKA project, we require technology that supports our fully transparent approach to collaborative working,” said Colin Greenwood, Head of Administration at the SKA Organization. “The scale of the SKA represents a huge leap forward in both engineering and research & development. We must manage the constant stream of data which informs the strategic decision making required to ensure our success. Unit4 Business World will provide detailed reports and automate much of the necessary administration, freeing our team to focus on more valuable work.”
