Prostate Cancer Educational Webcast Features Sex and Intimacy

CHICAGO--()--As a part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September, Us TOO International Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network will present a free educational webcast providing live video and audio from the Prostate Cancer Pathways for Patients and Caregivers. The event will take place on Saturday, September 29, at Englewood Health in Englewood, NJ. In addition to valuable information on prostate cancer testing and treatment, the event will address maintaining sex and intimacy after prostate cancer with a special presentation from renowned expert and author, Dr. Anne Katz.

“Change in sexual function and incontinence are common side effects to prostate cancer treatment, and they can be incredibly isolating,” stated Dr. Anne Katz. “Along with increasing awareness of prostate cancer overall throughout September, we are bringing attention to the fact that prostate cancer is often referred to as a ‘couple’s disease’ due to the impact of its side effects on intimacy. Our goal is to provide men and their partners with practical tips to get back on common ground, at a time they need each other most.“

Prostate Cancer Pathways for Patients and Caregivers will provide education on various aspects of prostate cancer, a common health risk for men as they age and a disease that has no symptoms until it is advanced.

The New Jersey Pathways presenters will include:

  • Dr. Anne Katz, Certified Sexuality Counselor, Clinical Nurse Specialist at CancerCare Manitoba, Editor of the Oncology Nursing Forum, and Author
  • Dr. Stacy Loeb, Assistant Professor of Urology and Population Health at the New York University School of Medicine and Manhattan VA
  • Dr. Charles G. Drake, Director of Genitourinary Oncology and Associate Director for Clinical Research at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center
  • Dr. Mazyar Ghanaat, Program Director of Urologic Oncology at Englewood Health

Englewood Health is at 350 Engle St. in Englewood, NJ, 07631. The presentation will be in the Chiang Auditorium. Doors open at 9:00 am, and the event runs from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm (Eastern Time). Registration is free and attendees can participate in person or online via a live webcast with audio and video from the event. A free lunch will be provided to pre-registered, in-person attendees. An introduction to meditation and acupuncture will also be available.

For free registration, visit: www.mainstreamchicago.com/ustoo-pathways-new-jersey or contact Terri at 877-978-7866 or terril@ustoo.org. Please note that on-site space is limited. The New Jersey Pathways event is the second of three regional events in 2018. The series began with a June 23 event in Seattle, WA, and includes an event in Chicago, IL, on November 3.
