Arkansas Virtual Academy Grows College and Career Prep Programs for the 2018-2019 School Year

Online Classes are Back in Session on August 15

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--()--Students and teachers at Arkansas Virtual Academy (ARVA) will start the 2018-2019 school year on August 15. An online public school option for students in grades K-12, ARVA is available tuition free to students across the state.

ARVA combines innovative technology with a rigorous curriculum led by state-certified teachers. Students take a full course load across the core subjects of math, science, language arts, history and art, as well as a variety of electives at the appropriate grade levels.

Beginning this year, ARVA high school students will have the opportunity to take Career Technical Education (CTE) courses through the school’s Destinations Career Program. The Destinations Career Program introduces students to specialty trade skills through online courses in the fields of finance, information technology and marketing.

We are proud to introduce Destinations pathways to our students this year,” said ARVA Head of School Scott Sides. “Our goal has always been to prepare our students for a successful future, whether they plan to go to college or enter the workforce after high school. With our new online CTE offerings, we are doing even more to make sure our students are college- and career-ready.”

According to a recent survey by K12 Inc. and Edge Research, three out of four parents say middle and high school is the best time for students to start exploring career paths. Through ARVA’s new Destinations pathways, students are introduced to future career trades and can choose to go on to take examinations for industry-recognized credentials.

From live classes and one-on-one instruction to chat sessions and family phone calls, dedicated teachers work in close partnership with parents and students to support academic success. The online platform enables students to enjoy a safe learning environment and connects them with classmates and teachers from across the state.

Throughout the school year, ARVA builds a sense of community through in-person field trips, community service opportunities and social outings. Graduating seniors are celebrated at an in-person commencement ceremony each spring, and many go on to enroll in top colleges and universities across the country.

To learn more about ARVA, families are encouraged to attend an online or in-person information session hosted by the school. To learn more about enrollment and for a schedule of upcoming events, visit arva.k12.com, or download the K12 enrollment app for iOS and Android devices.
