SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Seneca Family of Agencies (Seneca) is proud to announce that Rhonda Sciortino will be the Community Advocate Honoree at our upcoming Forever Families Gala taking place on November 10, 2018, at the Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, California.
Abandoned as a young child, Rhonda Sciortino was left in the care of her grandparents, one of whom suffered from mental illness, the other from substance abuse. Rhonda’s tumultuous upbringing led to her placement in a foster home which opened her eyes to the experiences of so many children in foster care. She experienced abuse, homelessness, and poverty and nevertheless found her way to become a prosperous entrepreneur. She has sold two successful companies that protected and defended private nonprofit child welfare agencies and has written seven books, including “Succeed Because of What You’ve Been Through,” as featured on the Today Show. Rhonda is a survivor of abuse, igniter of passion, public speaker, renowned author, radio show host, and child welfare advocate.
“It is with great pleasure we present Rhonda Sciortino with the Community Advocate Award. Rhonda’s life embodies Seneca’s values through her perseverance and dedication to children in the foster care system,” said Josie Aye Roemhild, LCSW Executive Director, Orange County Programs, Seneca Family of Agencies.
“The national outcomes of an overwhelming number of former foster children tell a story of homelessness, substance abuse, trafficking and other tragedy. Conversely, many foster alumni are like me in that we’ve created good lives for ourselves. Why the disparity? When someone believes in us, we dare to believe in ourselves. That’s what the good people of Seneca do—they believe in the children within their influence. That’s why I am honored to receive this recognition from Seneca,” said Rhonda Sciortino.
Seneca is proud to honor Rhonda for her dedication to child welfare and commitment to doing whatever it takes for children and families. The Forever Families Gala will celebrate Seneca’s 100% success rate of placing children with their forever families for over 30 years. Compared to the national average of 75%, Seneca’s success is something to be celebrated.
Special thanks to Marybelle & Sebastian Paul Musco, Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, and Mary & Patrick Dirk for putting forth a $150,000 matching challenge to support Forever Families through Seneca’s Gala.
