Colorado State Representative James Coleman to Address Online School Graduates at In-Person Ceremony

WESTMINSTER, Colo.--()--Colorado Preparatory Academy (CPA), an accredited, full-time online public school, will hold an in-person graduation ceremony to celebrate the Class of 2018 on Friday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at the Kenneth King Academic and Performing Arts Center in Denver.

Colorado state representative James Coleman will deliver the keynote address to CPA’s 61 graduates. “Congratulations to the Colorado Preparatory Academy Class of 2018,” Coleman said. “This motivated and passionate group of students have worked hard to reach this significant milestone, and I am honored to celebrate their achievement with them.”

CPA serves students statewide in kindergarten through 12th grade. The school specializes in programs specifically for advanced learners. College-minded students can choose from a broad range of courses in order to gain a competitive edge for the future and discover their path after high school. CPA also gives students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school.

Class of 2018 valedictorian Ashton Turner will address his classmates. Turner plans to pursue a four-year degree following a gap year. Veronica Kaiser, CPA’s salutatorian, has already earned 31 college credits at Front Range Community College thanks to CPA’s concurrent enrollment opportunities, and she will pursue a degree in graphic design at Denver Community College while participating in the ASCENT program.

In addition, K12 vice president of school services Darren Reed will also deliver remarks.

The Class of 2018 also includes four students who participated in ASCENT (Accelerating Students through Concurrent ENrollmenT), a postsecondary program where fifth-year high school students attend college full-time and receive their high school diploma at the end of the school year.

Nearly 80 percent of CPA’s graduates plan to attend college. Collectively, the Class of 2018 has been offered $103,000 in college scholarships. The graduates report that they have been accepted to a number of colleges and universities, including University of Colorado, University of Arizona, University of Denver, Colorado State University-Pueblo, University of Northern Colorado, Colorado Mesa University, Academy of Art University, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, College of Wooster and Pikes Peak Community College.
