Healthcare Organizations Need to Connect Emotionally with Consumers, Says Home Care CEO at Conference

Matt Murphy of Griswold Home Care tells Digital Marketing in Healthcare Summit that Online Content Must Resonate

PHILADELPHIA--()--With the vast majority of homecare providers selected by word of mouth, according to Home Care Pulse’s most recent Home Care Benchmarking Study, it is more vital than ever to forge strong emotional connections with clients, patients and prospective employees.

That was the key message Griswold Home Care President and CEO Matt Murphy delivered during a presentation today at the Digital Marketing in Healthcare Summit in Philadelphia. Titled “Content Generation for Emotional Connection,” Murphy’s speech posed the question, “If content is the only thing we have, what do we create to make an emotional connection?”

“People make emotional decisions and then use facts to support them,” Murphy said. “The home care industry, in particular, is very personal. As a result, we have to tell human stories and make our caregivers relatable, as people invite these strangers into their homes to take care of their loved ones.”

Murphy pointed to a caregiver named Allegra Chaney as an example. A Griswold employee for the company’s entire 36-year existence, Chaney has become a face of the organization, offering video testimonials of her experiences with clients, and writing a regular online column, “Ask Allegra,” offering advice for other professionals and family caregivers. Her column is also featured on Griswold’s new website for home care aides, CaregiverResource.com, which serves as a source of information for caregivers and those looking to enter the field.

This content of caring has paid dividends, Murphy told the audience, with a multitude of positive testimonials and five-star reviews online, many of which highlight Griswold’s compassionate caregivers and the peace of mind they provide to family members.
