Citizens Against Government Waste Applauds SCOTUS Decision Legalizing Sports Gambling

WASHINGTON--()--Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down the federal prohibition on states legalizing sports gambling.

CAGW President Tom Schatz said in a statement:

“The Supreme Court’s decision to allow states to legalize sports betting is a victory for taxpayers, consumers, and states’ rights. The decision overturns an outdated law that stifled a vibrant, twenty-first century industry. Going forward, states that chose to legalize sports betting should establish policies that are competitive and contain strong consumer protections, in collaboration with law enforcement and stakeholders.”

CAGW is the nation’s largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
