SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fuzzy Pet Health, the subscription-based pet healthcare company, today announces that it is providing free veterinary healthcare to Affordable Housing Development properties, starting in San Francisco and eventually in other parts of the Bay Area. These properties include Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) housing developments, formerly San Francisco Housing Authority public housing locations. In total, this partnership could serve up to 1,000 pets belonging to 4,000 residents across 32 locations in the city of San Francisco.
As flea season approaches with the warmer weather, many local residents will need medical care for their pets in order to keep their homes safe and clean. Twice per quarter, Fuzzy will provide residents of the RAD sites with an on-site examination/treatment center that offers free and accessible veterinary healthcare. Residents will receive tailored recommendations and services for their pets on a timely schedule. Services will include a physical exam & consultation, along with appropriate diagnostics, such as a heartworm test for dogs or an FeLV/FIV test for cats. Vaccinations, basic blood and fecal tests are all included in this first visit. Following the first visit, all pets receive preventive medication to ensure that pets (and buildings) remain parasite free.
“Our program with RAD sites offers residents and their pets access to the gold standard in veterinary health, while giving Fuzzy the opportunity to make a positive impact in our community. We strongly believe that the emotional benefits of pet companionship and care positively affect a person’s well-being and quality of life,” said Dr. Robert Trimble, Fuzzy’s co-Founder and Head of Veterinary Services.
Initial clinics will be held on May 11 at the Robert B. Pitts Building, which serves 400 residents with 50 pets. Additional clinics will be held at the Westside Courts, Holly Courts and Duboce and 18th Street housing facilities in San Francisco in late May and then continue throughout the summer and fall months.
“This program is an ideal way to keep our residents and their pets safe, healthy and happy. The feedback we’ve received on this initiative with Fuzzy Pet Health has been fantastic and we’re excited to bring high quality vet care to new locations throughout the county in the coming months,” said Helen Hale, Director of Residential and Community Services, Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, City and County of San Francisco.
San Francisco’s Affordable Housing owners and their service providers have teamed up with Fuzzy Pet Health to cover the costs of these services for residents, who will not pay any fees.
