SHI International Surges 23 Percent in Q1 2018 to Record $2.1 Billion in Revenue

Configuration and professional services fueled rapid growth

SOMERSET, N.J.--()--SHI International Corp., one of America’s top 10 largest IT solutions providers, closed the first quarter of 2018 with $2.1 billion in revenue, a 23 percent surge year over year and a new record for Q1. Hardware sales and configuration services combined to drive growth through new opportunities, along with the continued success of SHI’s relationships with top software and cloud-based partners.

SHI’s services revenues were up an average of 60 percent in Q1. Configuration services led the way with 82 percent growth year over year. SHI’s professional services include Financing, End-User and/or Data Center Configuration, IT Asset Management, Lifecycle Management, and other IT Professional Services.

SHI’s overall cloud software revenue grew by 75 percent in Q1. Microsoft Azure led cloud revenue growth with a 200 percent rise year over year, and Office 365 revenue grew over 40 percent. SHI’s first-quarter Amazon revenue jumped 68 percent, reflecting the success of the company’s AWS Support Services program launched during the same quarter one year ago. SHI also expanded Google Cloud Platform consumption during Q1 2018 and leveraged its VMware Cloud on AWS competency to launch its first large public sector customer on that platform.

For instance, Intel named us PC Client Solution Partner of the Year for our Zero Touch offering, which streamlines deployment and activation of devices running Windows 10. The impact can be seen in our first-quarter growth, which was above and beyond what even we were expecting – both in overall product sales and services – thanks to our customers, partners, and SHI employees.”

Among SHI’s various divisions, Commercial and Strategic Enterprise led the way with 31 percent growth year over year. The Public Sector and Corporate and SMB divisions were neck and neck, with year-over-year growth of 22 percent and 21 percent, respectively. Growth in Europe was strong as well, with France up 37 percent and the UK increasing revenue by 10 percent.

The historic growth among SHI’s top partners continued. VMware saw the biggest jump, with HP Enterprise and HP Inc. right behind, all three growing at least 44 percent year over year. Microsoft, Dell, Cisco, Lenovo, Symantec, Apple, and Veritas rounded out the top 10 partners in the first quarter. Among Emerging Partners, Cohesity was a standout; its commitment to the channel paid off with more than 900 percent growth over last year.

SHI’s security revenues were up more than 30 percent overall in Q1 with Proofpoint, Palo Alto Networks, Tenable, and McAfee helping lead the way.

This quarter SHI also announced preliminary plans for its future Garza Ranch location in South Austin, Texas, which will become the 250,000-square-foot national headquarters for SHI’s corporate, small and mid-size sales division as the business continues to grow. SHI will hire as many as 300 people in and around the Austin area in 2018.
