IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Recognizing the benefits of environmentally preferred sourcing (EPS) for caregiver health, patient health and the environment, Vizient has enhanced its contract catalog to simplify the identification of sustainable products. These enhancements, combined with the broadest, most cost-effective portfolio of environmentally preferred products in the industry, create the necessary framework for members to easily implement and maintain an EPS program.
“The Vizient contract catalog offers members the ability to view environmentally preferred attributes during any product search and to also narrow the results according to specific attributes. The enhancements to the contract catalog build on Vizient’s decision in October 2017 to consider the submission of environmentally preferred attribute information by potential suppliers in all Vizient contract awards. Attributes range from waste reduction techniques to utilizing safer chemicals that will not inadvertently harm vulnerable patient populations to conserving valuable resources.
Vizient has also partnered with MindClick for additional validation of environmental attributes. Awarded supplier’s contracted products with environmentally preferred attributes validated by MindClick will be featured as “EV” in the Vizient catalog.
