NIC Partner Honored as a 2018 Service to the Citizen Award Winner

Christine Williamson of the National Park Service recognized for leading an initiative to make park entrance passes available for purchase online

OLATHE, Kan.--()--NIC, a leading provider of digital government services, congratulates Christine (Chris) Williamson, National Park Service (NPS) Fee Program Manager, for being recognized as a champion of change during the inaugural Service to the Citizen Awards held in Washington, DC, on May 1, 2018.

Designed to honor public servants at all levels for their leadership and dedication to delivering an outstanding experience to the public, the Service to the Citizen Awards recognized Chris for her role in leading the NPS’ efforts to make park entrance passes available for purchase online.

When the NPS undertook the initiative in late 2015, Chris and her team were essential to the selection of a digital solution that would meet the rising expectations of visitors to America’s public lands. Under Chris’ leadership, what began as a small pilot program tested at three national parks in early 2016 has evolved into a solution for electronic park entrance passes available for use by any NPS unit called YourPassNow.

“I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award,” said Sandi Miller, General Manager for NIC Federal. “Chris and her team have worked tirelessly to make electronic park entrance passes a reality and it is NIC’s true pleasure to work together as partners to execute their vision.”

YourPassNow is a robust, citizen-facing online marketplace that offers visitors a new level of recreation access to America’s public lands while simultaneously providing public lands with a tool to help manage the visitor experience. Using a personal device, visitors can conveniently purchase park entrance passes from yourpassnow.com at no additional cost. Once purchased, passes are emailed and can be used immediately, stored on a personal device, or printed for future use.
