Louisiana Business Leaders to Host Roundtable with Rep. Steve Scalise to Discuss Current State of Economy and Housing

WHAT:

Business leaders of the Louisiana Home Builders Association will host a roundtable discussion with Representative Steve Scalise on Thursday, May 3 to discuss a wide range of issue affecting the Louisiana economy, housing industry and home buyers.

While the Louisiana economy continues to gain momentum after the recession, the home building industry still faces several constraints that are holding back further growth that could derail the local economy. Issues including increased building materials costs, lack of buildable lots, labor shortages and regulatory barriers are impacting local housing affordability.

Rep. Scalise will take questions at the conclusion of the meeting.

Rep. Scalise will also be presented with the association’s Defender of Housing Award, which honors those representatives who recognize housing’s significant role within the U.S. economy and support pro-housing policies.

A light breakfast and coffee will be served.
