In fact, according to MetLife’s 15th Annual U.S. Employee Benefits Trend Study, brokers continue to be a valuable resource to employers of all sizes. When asked how significant of an impact outside professionals or firms had on the employee benefits selected during the most recent renewal process, 81 percent said an insurance agent or broker played a role. In addition, 75 percent said an employee benefits consultant or consulting firm played a role.
Most recently, from January through March 2018, IdentityForce ran its own survey of more than 100 benefit advisors throughout the U.S. Some of the key highlights of IdentityForce’s 2018 Benefit Broker Survey include:
- In-demand Employer Paid Benefit | Identity theft protection has grown into an increasingly in-demand employee benefit, with 57 percent of benefit advisors receiving regular requests from their clients.
- Price Matters | The biggest driver for employers around selecting an employer-paid benefit is cost, as sited by 80 percent of the survey respondents. In conjunction with the MetLife survey, this is where many companies view the value of broker relationships, where 76 percent believe brokers help them get the best possible prices on employee benefits.
- Top Three Most Requested Progressive Benefits | According to the rankings provided by the surveyed benefit advisors, wellness programs, confidential counseling, and identity theft protection all lead the pack as the most popular progressive benefit offerings being requested by organizations of all sizes.
