Humana Announced as Exclusive Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington Health Plan Sponsor for National Senior Health & Fitness Day®, May 30

SilverSneakers will co-sponsor event in California and Washington

PHOENIX & LOS ANGELES & LAS VEGAS & SEATTLE--()--Humana, a leading health and well-being company, will be the exclusive health plan sponsor in Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington for the 25th National Senior Health & Fitness Day® taking place Wednesday, May 30, 2018. In California and Washington, SilverSneakers, the nation’s leading community fitness program designed specifically for older Americans, will co-sponsor the event with Humana.

National Senior Health & Fitness Day aims to promote the importance of regular physical activity for older adults and to showcase what local organizations are doing in their communities to help improve the health of older adults. It is anticipated that more than 100,000 older adults across the country will participate in health and wellness events at more than 1,000 locations nationwide.

Across the country, National Senior Health & Fitness Day will be celebrated at senior centers; retirement communities; Ys and health clubs; hospitals and health systems; and local aging organizations. Events at these locations in Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington are made possible in part through the support of Humana and SilverSneakers, and will include health fairs, fitness walks, exercise demonstrations, health screenings and presentations by health and fitness experts.

This year is the 25th anniversary of National Senior Health & Fitness Day, the nation’s largest older adult health promotion event,” said Patricia Henze, executive director of the program. “We are pleased to be working with Humana and SilverSneakers, as well as more than 1,000 local organizations nationwide to organize older adult health and wellness events on Wednesday, May 30.”
