Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy Now Accepting Enrollments for 2018-2019 School Year

Public Charter School Offers Online and In-Person Learning Opportunities

BATON ROUGE, La.--()--Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy (LAVCA), a full-time online public charter school, is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2018-2019 school year. LAVCA is available tuition-free to students in Kindergarten through 12th grade who reside anywhere in Louisiana.

LAVCA offers students and families a high-quality education option. Students access a robust online curriculum and attend live virtual classes taught by Louisiana-licensed teachers. In addition to their virtual classes, LAVCA students have the opportunity to participate in a blended learning experience, with in-person courses offered at learning centers in Baton Rouge and Lafayette.

LAVCA’s online platform gives students the opportunity to pursue their academic goals in a supportive environment and at an appropriate pace for their learning style. Teachers provide instruction during live online class sessions, and are available to students via phone, email and one-to-one meetings.

I am confident my son is getting a great education at LAVCA,” says Tina Northup of Alexandria, the mother of an elementary school student on the autism spectrum. “He gets a lot of one-on-one support with his teachers, and has the opportunity to really be himself in the online classroom.”

LAVCA offers a challenging academic program. Students take a full course load in the core subjects of math, science, English language arts, history, art and music. Electives include world languages, as well as high school honors courses. Graduates earn high school diplomas, and students can further set themselves apart by earning college credits through dual enrollment with local colleges.

To foster a sense of school community, LAVCA offers student clubs and in-person field trips, community service opportunities and social gatherings, including a prom and an in-person graduation ceremony in the spring.

LAVCA is now accepting enrollments for the 2018-2019 school year. Families are encouraged to attend an online or in-person information session hosted by the school. More information on LAVCA, how to enroll, and a schedule of upcoming events can be found at lavca.k12.com.
