Nevada Virtual Academy Now Accepting Enrollments for 2018-19 School Year

Online Public Charter School Offers Virtual and Blended Learning Opportunities for Nevada Students

LAS VEGAS--()--Nevada Virtual Academy (NVVA), a full-time online public charter school, is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2018-19 academic year, as the school prepares to begin its 10th year of operation. The tuition-free public school is available for students in kindergarten through 12th grade throughout the state of Nevada.

NVVA provides families and students an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar education. The school uses the curriculum provided by K12 Inc., the nation’s leading provider of proprietary K-12 curriculum and online education programs. Students choose online school for a variety of reasons, including advanced learning, a bullying-free environment and schedule flexibility to facilitate extracurricular pursuits or medical needs. NVVA’s online platform gives students the flexibility to pursue their academic goals in a supportive environment at an appropriate pace for their learning style.

NVVA provides a blended learning program that combines online learning with face-to-face instruction. The school has blended learning sites in Las Vegas and Reno where students can meet and engage with a state-licensed teacher in person in addition to the virtual interaction.

The school’s rigorous and engaging curriculum includes core courses in English/language arts, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as an extensive catalog of electives. High School students can take honors and Advanced Placement® courses. Additionally, the school’s dual credit program, in collaboration with the Nevada System of Higher Education, offers qualified juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit up to an associate degree while enrolled at NVVA.

“NVVA provides highly structured, rigorous academics while allowing Teshi to pursue her acting career and speaking opportunities,” said Evonne Scott, whose daughter, Teshi Thomas, attends Nevada Virtual Academy. “The administration and teachers have been more than accommodating to Teshi’s schedule. When she’s at an acting job, she travels with her laptop and participates in school each day.”

During the enrollment period, NVVA will be conducting online and in-person information sessions throughout the state. Interested families are encouraged to attend to meet teachers, staff and other families. For more information about NVVA and a list of upcoming events, visit http://nvva.k12.com.
