DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Principal Financial Group® announced today that Jerry Patterson will become the next Senior Vice President leading the full service retirement and individual investor businesses for Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) effective early second quarter. After 32 years with the company, Senior Vice President, Greg Burrows, announced his intentions to retire at the end of July 2018.
“Greg has been a committed leader and dedicated retirement advocate for Principal,” said Dan Houston, chairman, president and chief executive officer for Principal®. “During his tenure, he’s worked on three continents to help design and implement retirement solutions to solve global issues of income in retirement. He’s also spent his time and talents investing in our people – as a leader, mentor and friend to many at Principal. We wish Greg and his wife Stephanie the best in retirement.”
Greg joined the Principal in 1986. Over his career, he’s worked in several U.S. locations, Argentina and Japan, running businesses and helping provide retirement solutions to people around the world. Greg has also been a leader in the retirement industry, educating governments and regulators in many markets on retirement-related issues and trends.
Jerry is currently the senior vice president of RIS and has responsibility over individual investor, retail annuity, bank and full service payout. In his new position, he’ll continue to report to Nora Everett, president of RIS.
“Jerry’s strong business acumen, innovative thinking and passion for helping people save and have enough in retirement makes him a natural successor,” said Nora Everett. “His strategic vision and drive for results will help us meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers for many years to come.”
Jerry brings more than 17 years of experience at Principal. Prior to joining Principal, he worked for a number of financial and insurance companies in management and marketing roles. Jerry joined us in 2001 as chief marketing officer for our Life and Health businesses. He spent time in New York as the chief operating officer of Nippon, Life Benefits, prior to moving into his current role in 2012.
