CHICAGO--()--Officials with InnovaCare Health are proud to announce that President and CEO Richard Shinto, M.D., was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of 2018’s Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare. The profiles of all the winners are featured in the February 26, 2018 print issue of Modern Healthcare and at ModernHealthcare.com/Top25Minorities.

In its seventh year, the biennial recognition program honors the top minority healthcare executives who are influencing policy and care delivery models across the country. In doing so, the award highlights the continued need to cultivate diversity at healthcare organizations.

“From leaders of health systems who are actively working to make sure that communities of color have access to affordable and high-quality healthcare to heroes who protected victims of natural disasters and violent protests, this year’s Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare exemplify resilience and tenacity,” said Modern Healthcare Editor Aurora Aguilar. “These leaders have produced incredible results by elevating the quality of patient care at their organizations while supporting and advancing their peers to boost diversity in the C-suite. As Modern Healthcare’s first Latina editor, I take special pride in this program and look forward to seeing the Top 25 and the 10 to Watch honorees grow in their roles and their influence.”

InnovaCare Health, headquartered in Fort Lee, N.J., is a leading provider of integrated healthcare services and value-based solutions. The company primarily focuses on government health plans, as well as provider integration and management, to create progressive population health models that are sustainable, cost-effective and fully integrated with today’s advanced technologies.

Through its subsidiary, MMM Healthcare, InnovaCare operates the leading health plans in Puerto Rico. After Hurricane Maria devastated the island in September 2017, the company was instrumental in reestablishing healthcare services for residents and led efforts that ultimately raised more than $4 million in relief.

“It’s an honor to again be recognized alongside such a distinguished group of healthcare leaders,” said Shinto, who previously won the award in 2012. “At InnovaCare Health, we are devoted to improving health equity — particularly for the country’s dual-eligible population, which includes some of the most vulnerable patients. And, we believe in equality within our organization, because we know diverse backgrounds and perspectives make our team stronger. To me, this award reflects the important work we are doing, as well as the strong culture we have built across our organization.”
