KEARNEY, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--SCORR Marketing, a global health science marketing and communications firm, recently completed its fifth annual survey on marketing trends in the health sciences industry. This report provides key information to help marketing professionals make better decisions about how to allocate their marketing budgets.
“By understanding how and why other companies in this industry prioritize their marketing goals — and how satisfied they are with their choices — decision makers can better determine how to spend their own marketing resources to meet their needs,” said Krystle Buntemeyer, chief marketing officer at SCORR.
For example, survey results indicate that companies are likely to allocate much of their marketing spend to trade shows and events: Eighty-seven percent of respondents spend more than 10 percent of their budget on trade shows and more than one-third put more than 40 percent of their total budget toward these events. Conversely, investment in print advertising continues to slide: Eighty-seven percent spend 20 percent or less of their budget on print advertising.
The survey also provides information about the typical size of in-house marketing departments as well as trends in outsourcing, marketing tactics and the use of market intelligence and analytics.
“The better you understand industry norms and what marketing tactics perform best, the more effective you can be in making strategic decisions,” Buntemeyer said. “This report provides insight every health science company can use.”
Respondents were primarily from service providers, including 38 percent from contract or clinical research organizations and 19 percent from software and technology companies. Forty-two percent of respondents identified themselves as marketing managers, while more than a quarter (28 percent) said they were either vice presidents or directors.
