COLUMBIA, S.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Gov. McMaster has proclaimed Jan. 21-27 to be School Choice Week in South Carolina. Dozens of other governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide have issued similar proclamations.
South Carolinians have planned 607 events and activities to celebrate opportunity in education and raise awareness of the educational options parents have, or want to have, for their children. The rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and other celebrations are part of the more than 32,000 that will take place nationwide.
“South Carolina parents, like parents everywhere, want the best opportunities for their children. Opportunity in education is one of the most important and fundamental,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “We’re grateful to Gov. McMaster for raising awareness of how important this is to families in South Carolina and across the country.”
Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
