TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mayor Gillum has officially proclaimed Jan. 21-27 “Tallahassee School Choice Week,” joining more than 500 other city and county leaders, plus dozens of governors, in officially joining the celebrations of school choice.
Floridians will celebrate the week at nearly 4,000 events and activities – including about 50 in Tallahassee. These gatherings include rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meet-ups, festivals, school fairs, and more – the 32,000 events across the country will raise awareness about the educational opportunities parents have, or want to have, for their children.
“We are grateful that Mayor Gillum has issued this proclamation,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “Florida parents have so many opportunities to choose their children’s schools and educational programs, and we’re excited to highlight these opportunities so parents can share their experiences with each other and find the best place for their kids to learn.”
Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events and activities across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
