Grant Thornton adds LaVerne H. Council to lead Enterprise Digital Strategy and Innovation

Council joins to bolster firm’s full-service CIO advisory services offerings

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--Grant Thornton LLP has named LaVerne H. Council as the firm’s national managing principal for Enterprise Digital Strategy and Innovation.

Council boasts broad private and public sector experience. She previously served as a senior vice president and general manager at Mitre Corporation; chief information officer (CIO) and Assistant Secretary for the Office of Information and Technology at the Department of Veterans Affairs; and corporate vice president and global CIO at Johnson & Johnson.

In her new role at Grant Thornton, Council will focus on helping CIOs solve their most challenging issues through the firm’s innovative enterprise digital and technology strategies and offerings. These include new approaches in digital delivery, technology management, effectiveness and efficiency and data strategy and solutions. The goal is to help organizations transform their enterprises and operate more effectively.

Based in Alexandria, Virginia, Council will report to Srikant Sastry, national managing principal of Advisory Services for Grant Thornton.

Council comes to Grant Thornton as a proven leader with more than 30 years of experience – in both the public and private sector – implementing global technology solutions and supply chain strategies that drive growth and innovation in industries, including healthcare, consumer products and telecommunications. She has extensive experience in process design and implementation, IT strategy and solution development, organizational transformation, digital solution creation and implementation, change management, risk management and supply chain strategies.

Council is a member of the Executive Leadership Council, the Executive Board Symposium and the Corporate Executive Board.

She received a doctorate in business administration from Drexel University, a master’s of business administration degree from Illinois State University and a bachelor’s of business administration degree from Western Illinois University.
