AFSA Hires Bohi as VP, Compliance Education

WASHINGTON--()--The American Financial Services Association (AFSA) is pleased to announce the hiring of Philip P. Bohi to the newly-created position of Vice President, Compliance Education.

“We are excited to have someone with Philip’s credentials and experience join the AFSA team,” said Chris Stinebert, President and CEO of AFSA. “His experience in the law and especially in compliance issues for the consumer credit industry will be a tremendous asset to our membership.”

In the new position, Bohi will report to Stinebert and be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for the association’s compliance activities, including leading the consumer credit industry’s education and understanding on all issues related to compliance with laws, regulations and guidance at the federal and state levels.

His duties, in addition to supervising AFSA’s Compliance staff, will include supervising AFSA University – AFSA’s compliance training program; serving as the primary staff liaison to the Operations Regulatory Compliance Committee (ORCC); and regularly communicating with AFSA member companies on compliance-related issues.

Bohi joins AFSA from Toyota Motor Credit Corp. (TMCC) where he was Managing Counsel since 2012. He served as the Compliance Workstream Lead for a multi-year effort to replace critical systems and deliver updated system integration facilities. He also supported the company’s Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) readiness efforts, with emphasis on Service Provider risk management in the company’s Vendor Management Office.

Prior to working in auto finance, Bohi worked on diverse consumer finance matters at McGlinchey Stafford, PLLC. Bohi also brings to AFSA considerable Washington, DC experience, having served as Associate General Counsel at the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) 2006-2011.

Bohi is a member of the Virginia State Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar. He was awarded his J.D. from the College of William and Mary School of Law in Williamsburg, VA, and earned a bachelors degree in Political Science from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
