SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Greg Skipper, M.D. and his team will continue to provide the foremost clinical services that have evaluated and treated more than 800 professionals, primarily physicians, since the program began in 2011. Matthew Goldenberg, D.O., board certified in general and addiction psychiatry, will continue as Associate Medical Director. SallyAnn Cross, LCSW, will remain in her position as Executive Director.
The Professionals Treatment Program will continue to offer individualized 72 hour multidisciplinary evaluations through its Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation (CDE) program, now directed by John Pustaver, M.Div., MA., the former long-term director of the evaluation program at the Betty Ford Center. CDE’s are conducted for licensed professionals, such as physicians, psychologists, and pharmacists, as well as attorneys, judges, pilots, and other C-level executives from across the United States. Evaluations are needed when a professional develops problems that might affect his or her work. Regulatory boards, hospitals, companies, and others refer to the CDE Program to determine the correct diagnoses, assess fitness-for-duty for the professional, and, when indicated, develop a treatment plan, including coordinating long-term monitoring.
The Professionals Treatment Program offers treatment for professionals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The treatment provided is unique compared with similar programs in that it only accepts professionals as compared to a track within a large program. This approach of treating high achieving adults together has been extremely successful.
Dr. Greg Skipper, Medical Director and founder of the Professionals Treatment Program stated, "Doctors and other professionals are not immune from the ravages of chemical addiction and mental illness. They need a safe place to get well alongside other professionals. I am delighted that we can now offer world-class evaluations and treatment focused entirely on the needs of professionals. The Professionals Treatment Program is nationally recognized as a premier treatment program for professionals, and with the partnership of New Vista Behavioral Health, we are now able to elevate our programs and services to an even higher level.” Dr. Skipper has evaluated and treated thousands of physicians and other healthcare professionals and previously served as the Medical Director of the Alabama Physician Health Program, Springbrook Hazelden, Promises, Betty Ford, and Bradford Health Services, and he has been the lead author on many of the seminal papers related to Physician Health.
