SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today at the Computer Education Management Association (CEdMA) Training Leadership Conference, CEdMA announced that Okta is the recipient of the 2017 CEdMA Innovation Award for their innovative approach to customer, partner, and employee certification. Okta is the leading independent provider of identity for the enterprise.
The CEdMA Innovation Award seeks to recognize a CEdMA member company that used an innovative approach to solve a problem or address an opportunity. This prestigious award recognizes creativity and innovation among the CEdMA membership. Presented annually, the Innovation Award selects one high-tech company or individual for outstanding innovation in education business methods or practices on a project completed within the last 12 months.
The Okta Education Services team has been recognized for building a 21st century world-class credentialing program for IT professionals in the identity as a service (IDaaS) space. The new certification program uses remote, proctored testing and Discrete Option Multiple Choice (DOMC) questions to improve exam accessibility and security. Reducing item question and answer exposure results in a more secure exam. Removing vulnerabilities inherent in multiple-choice elimination or ‘best-guess’ techniques means that DOMC is a more reliable measure of a candidate’s skill. Learn more here.
As Okta was born in the cloud, the Okta Education Services team’s goals were to build a testing solution also born in the cloud, with no on-premise servers or onsite test-taking experiences. “Okta is known for being notoriously easy to use and we wanted our exam taking experience to be equally seamless and user-friendly,” said Laura Brumage, Vice President, Education Services. “The generous insight provided by CEdMA certification leaders inspired us to forge a new path to improve exam integrity and we are honored that CEdMA has recognized the innovation. It is our hope that other certification programs benefit from our successful outcome.”
Okta’s partnership with exam development and delivery pioneers also allowed them to reduce traditional certification program start-up costs and pass the savings along to test takers. “With full control over item authoring and publishing routines, our program can flexibly keep pace with the innovation frequency of features in the Okta Identity Cloud,” said Kpayah Tamba, Director of Okta Certification.
Pat Durante, President of CEdMA, commented, “The Okta Certification Program is modern, brave, innovative and even daring. Not satisfied with traditional approaches, Okta applied innovative thinking to pioneer a truly modern and unique approach to testing that delivers confidence in the quality of the candidates that pass exams.” Pat added, “I am thrilled to learn the research and connections made through CEdMA were instrumental in Okta’s decision to try something new.”
The Okta Education Services team will showcase the innovation it delivered during the annual CEdMA Training Leadership Conference in the Spring of 2018, in Silicon Valley.
