LONDON--()--According to the latest market study released by Technavio, the global baghouse filters market is expected to grow at a CAGR of close to 5% during the forecast period.

This research report titled ‘Global Baghouse Filters Market 2017-2021’ provides an in-depth analysis of the market in terms of revenue and emerging market trends. This report also includes an up to date analysis and forecasts for various market segments and all geographical regions.

Baghouse filters, also called dust collectors or fabric filters, are air control devices that are designed to use envelopes, cartridges, or fabric filter tubes to separate dust and other particulate matter. Their applications vary from small workplaces to large industrial facilities like cement and coal-fired plants.

According to Gaurav Mohindru, a lead analyst at Technavio for tools and components research, “The major end-users of baghouse filters are the woodworking, pharmaceuticals, power, food and beverage, and other processing industries. High demand for baghouse filters is expected to arise from the growth in capacity in the woodworking industry.”

Shaker

In shaker baghouse filters, the tubular filter bags are fastened to a cell plate at the bottom of the baghouse and suspended from horizontal beams. The polluted gas enters the bottom of the baghouse and passes via a filter, and the dust gets collected on the inside surface of the bags. Shaker baghouses vary in size from small hand shaker devices to large compartmentalized units that can operate continuously. The intermittent units can also be used in units where the processes operate on a batch basis; once the batch is completed, then the baghouse is ready for cleaning. In this type of baghouse filter, the air-to-cloth ratio is low, and hence it requires more space. However, the simplicity of the design makes these filters popular in the mineral processing industry.

Reverse air

In reverse air baghouses, the bags are fastened to a cell plate at the bottom of the baghouse and suspended from an adjustable hanger. Here, the dirty gas normally enters the baghouse and passes the bag from the inside, after which, the dust is collected from inside of the bags.

Reverse air baghouses are compartmentalized to allow continuous operation. The bags are cleaned by injecting clean air into the dust collector in a reverse direction; this creates pressure inside the compartment, which makes the bags collapse partially, thus allowing the dust cake to crack and fall into the hopper. The flow of the polluted gas helps in maintaining the shape of the bag. When compared with shaker baghouse filters, reverse air baghouse filters require less space.

Pulse jet

In pulse jet baghouses, the individual bags are supported by a metal cage and fastened to a cell plate at the top of the baghouse. Here, the polluted gas enters from the bottom of the baghouse and flows from the outside to the inside. The metal cage helps in preventing collapse between the filter bags. Pulse jet dust collectors are used in continuous processes and can be cleaned without interrupting the flow, as the amount of compressed air is much smaller than the total volume of the dusty air inside the collector.

“The shorter cleaning cycle of pulse jet baghouse filters ensures complete cleaning and reconditioning of the bags when compared with shaker or reverse air baghouse filters. Also, the continuous cleaning helps in operating at higher air-to-cloth ratios,” says Gaurav.
