Dr. Coffin has been a leader for more than 20 years within the health information technology (IT) sector, with a background including transforming Dell into the top health IT business in the world and leading the team that grew IBM’s healthcare and life sciences division to a market leader.

Prior to joining Sema4, Dr. Coffin was the CEO of Source Medical Solutions, Inc., the top provider of practice management and electronic medical record solutions for the ambulatory surgical space. As Worldwide Vice President, General Manager, and Global Practice Lead at Dell’s Healthcare and Life Sciences group, he pioneered efforts to apply leading-edge IT into areas including EMR, data analytics, high performance and cloud computing, personalized medicine, genomics and proteomics, claims processing, medical imaging, and pharmaceutical and biotech drug discovery. His efforts drove Dell from a small player in healthcare to the top healthcare IT company in the world. He began his career at IBM, where he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately becoming Worldwide Vice President of IBM Healthcare and Life Sciences. Dr. Coffin holds a Ph.D. in computational chemistry from the University of Arkansas.
