CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Last night, the Cleveland Stonewall Democrats voted to endorse the Yes on Issue 2 campaign to lower drug prices for 4 million Ohioans and save taxpayers $400 million a year.
“The Cleveland Stonewall Democrats have been leading the fight for equality for decades. Issue 2 is about economic equality and showing the drug companies they cannot continue to bully Ohioans by putting profits before patients,” said Dennis Willard, spokesperson for Yes on Issue 2. “It is unfair that regular people are being forced to shell out more for ever-increasing drug costs while huge drug companies and their CEOs continue to make excessive profits. Yes on Issue 2 will hold them accountable and lower the price of drugs and save us all more of our hard-earned tax dollars.”
The Cleveland Stonewall Democrats is a large Cleveland-area organization of volunteers that are committed to supporting pro-LGBT candidates and issues. The group heard from both sides of the issue, but voted to support Yes on Issue 2.
Background on Ohio Ballot Issue 2
The Yes on Issue 2 campaign is a broad-based, bi-partisan coalition. More than 200,000 Ohio voters signed petitions to put an amendment on the ballot in November that will lower drug prices for over 4 million Ohioans, including 164,000 children, save taxpayers $400 million annually, reduce healthcare costs for everyone and teach greedy drug companies and their CEOs a lesson.
