Also, for a distance of up to 37-mile DTS needs, fiber optics offer single-mode optical fibers, which are designed for demanding environments of the oil and gas sector.

Fiber optic sensors use optical fibers as sensing element. These sensors can sense temperature, displacements, pressure, vibrations, rotations, and concentration of chemical species. Fiber optic sensors have applications in the remote sensing field as they do not require any electrical power at the remote location and are small. Fiber optic sensors are appropriate for rough conditions, including high vibration, noise, extreme heat, unstable, and wet environments.
