SEOUL, South Korea--()--Emphasizing the importance of environment-friendly ideas in the era of the rapid Fourth Industrial Revolution, Hyosung Group Chairman Cho Hyun-joon said in his inaugural address as the group chairman in January that he would expand environment-related businesses actively.

Thus, Hyosung Group (KRX:004800) held an Environment-friendly Idea Contest in June on the latest topics of climate change and global warming for the first time this year to identify ideas which can connect its business to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Undergraduate and graduate students majoring in engineering submitted a total of 85 entries to the Hyosung Environment-friendly Idea Contest, and winners were selected through two rounds of screening -- document examination and presentation.

The grand prize went to Kim Beom-gyeong of Hanyang University for his idea of "wireless charging shoes." Users can charge electric devices wirelessly while walking in the shoes, by generating piezoelectricity and charging it in a battery through magnetic induction.

The awards were presented in the headquarters of Hyosung Group in Mapo, Seoul, on August 18. The grand prize winner and the first runner-up received 7 million won and 4 million won, respectively, in prize money. Three second runners-up received 2 million won apiece. The winners will also get extra points or be exempt from document screening if they apply for jobs in Hyosung Group.

Chairman Cho has vowed to strengthen public relations with university students and step up efforts to secure and train talented engineers. Hyosung R&D Business Labs and Power & Industrial Systems R&D Center have interacted with students through industry-university cooperation lecture programs and technology exchange activities.
