VictorOps Launches New Post-Incident Review Feature in Tandem with O’Reilly Media eBook

New Product Update and eBook Address Post-Mortem Shortcomings in Modern IT Environments

BOULDER, Colo.--()--VictorOps, the real-time incident management company for DevOps teams, today announces the launch of its updated Post-Incident Review feature and the availability of the new eBook from O’Reilly Media and VictorOps DevOps Evangelist, Jason Hand. The eBook, titled “Post-Incident Reviews,” presents a contemporary approach to post-incident/post-mortem analysis that embraces the human element and adds essential insight into uncovering system flaws and potential improvements. At the same time, the new enhancement to their own Post-Mortem Report feature will provide customers with improved, more in-depth reporting capabilities.

“The next stage of our product evolution will deliver the ability to build out your post-incident analysis by creating richer annotations and identifying action items to help your team be more proactive in the future,” said Joni Klippert, VP of Product, VictorOps. “We’ve also changed the name of the feature to the Post-Incident Review in an effort to set the right tone from the start. ‘Post mortem’ immediately creates a bias towards self-preservation versus encouraging transparency and learning.”

VictorOps launched its own Post-Mortem Report feature over three years ago, helping customers learn from systemic issues to holistically improve the entire incident lifecycle. This eBook was authored to further support DevOps teams in advancing their incident management capabilities by learning from failure.

“DevOps teams need access to the most updated methods for detecting, resolving and improving systems - fast,” said Hand. “If these incidents are not fully understood, they are bound to be repeated. The Post-Incident Review eBook provides teams with a consistent formula for success when it comes to incident management, enabling them to look at the granular history of an incident, analyze and annotate the full incident history and prescribe distinct, actionable next steps to improve and learn as a team.”

In this eBook readers will:

  • Learn why sustained success depends on continuous improvement
  • Examine the difficulty in determining outage cause and effect in complex systems
  • Understand why traditional approaches, such as Root Cause Analysis, do little to provide greater service reliability
  • Review a case study detailing the unique phases of an incident
