CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nominations for CURE® magazine’s GBM Heroes® recognition program are now open until September 15. The four winners, as well as those who nominated them, will be honored on November 16 at the 3rd Annual GBM Heroes® gala, which will be held at the City View at Metreon, San Francisco, California.
“We are excited to honor and celebrate those individuals who have dedicated their efforts to help raise awareness and educate others about glioblastoma multiforme [GBM]. This event is dedicated to the unsung heroes who have made huge strides through care, research and treatment," said Michael J. Hennessy Jr, president of Michael J. Hennessy Associates, Inc., parent company of CURE® magazine.
GBM is the most aggressive and most common form of primary brain tumor in the U.S., affecting approximately 10,000 Americans each year. The median overall survival time from initial diagnosis is 15 months with optimal treatment, while median survival from the time of tumor recurrence is only 3 to 5 months without additional effective treatment.
GBM Heroes® shines the spotlight on individuals who have shown leadership in developing services and programs that address the needs of patients with GBM; their families, friends, and caregivers; and healthcare professionals by advancing the science and medical understanding of GBM, education, awareness, and/or approaches to care.
