NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Makovsky, one of the world’s largest independent integrated communications firms, today announced that Rob Schachter is joining as EVP, Deputy Head of Healthcare. Schachter will report directly to Partner/Chief Strategy Officer, Susan Goldstein, who joined Makovsky early this year with a dual focus of helping drive Makovsky’s overall growth strategy, as well as leading the organization’s healthcare practice. Goldstein reports to the agency’s founder, President and CEO, Ken Makovsky.
Schachter joins Makovsky from Lazar Partners, where he was Managing Director since 2015. Prior to that, he served for nearly a decade as an EVP in Ruder Finn’s healthcare practice. An award-winning communications leader, Schachter brings more than two decades of experience leading numerous U.S. and global account teams for some of the world’s leading device and pharmaceutical companies, including Novartis, Medtronic, Roche Diabetes, Daiichi-Sankyo, Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Baxter and AstraZeneca.
“Having worked with Rob for the better part of two decades, across two agencies, I'm especially thrilled to bring onboard a leader who is respected in the industry for his intelligence, depth, and intense focus on the highest-quality client service and professional development,” said Goldstein, who worked with Schachter when she served as Global Healthcare Practice Chair at Ruder Finn and also as US Healthcare Practice Head at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide.
Ken Makovsky added, “Our firm is entering a very exciting phase of expansion and evolution, as over the past few months we’ve added new clients and assignments across areas such as: social/digital engagement, employee engagement and multichannel communications. We are very excited that Rob is joining us to help us continue to uphold our proud tradition and high standards as we continue to push new boundaries.”
Schachter said, “Makovsky is known for tackling challenges through deep specialization. I’m especially thrilled to join, as Makovsky is uniquely equipped to deliver on client needs in an era when success means getting the right message, to the right audience, at the right time.”
Makovsky won over 80 awards between 2014-17 recognizing its campaigns, professionals, and the firm itself. Among them Makovsky was named "Healthcare Agency of the Year" by the Sabre Awards and was selected as "Agency of the Year" by three different organizations.
