SPOKANE, Wash.--()--Ecova, a leading energy and sustainability management company, today released its 2016 Corporate Responsibility Report. Now in its fourth consecutive year, Ecova’s annual report highlights accomplishments related to corporate citizenship, including more than $603 million in cost savings and 14.6 million tCO2e in greenhouse gas emission reductions identified for clients. Reductions that, according to the EPA’s carbon calculator, is equivalent to GHG emissions of more than 2.7 million passenger vehicles driven for one year.

Ecova is committed to corporate responsibility efforts that enable the organization to deliver savings for clients, encourage its employees’ professional development, benefit the communities in which employees live and work, and protect valuable natural resources.

The 2016 report revealed that in addition to clients’ GHG emission reductions, Ecova reduced its own carbon footprint by 19 tCO2e, the equivalent to GHG emissions of 4 passenger vehicles driven for one year, despite a ramp-up in program activity and new office locations. Employees also contributed more than 7,800 community service hours—equivalent to nearly $100,000 in labor to local communities.

“By holding ourselves accountable, we’re making a real difference in the world while making our company even stronger,” said Martin Sieh, Interim President & CEO at Ecova. “We are proud of our 2016 accomplishments and excited to build upon these powerful results in 2017. By taking responsibility, we move closer to sustainability for current and future generations.”

Corporate responsibility extends to professional development, and Ecova’s employees achieved a total of 45,416 training hours by the end of 2016, ensuring Ecova will remain on the cutting edge of innovations in energy, carbon, water and waste. Continued skills development and training opportunities help empower both employees and Ecova’s customers to proactively respond to the ever-changing energy and sustainability landscape.

Ecova further understands that being a good corporate citizen begins with the health of the communities it serves. Among its year-round efforts, Ecova is devoting special attention to the community in May with its Month of Community Service, a featured initiative within its 20th Anniversary celebration. From Meals on Wheels to Project Hope to The Lands Council, employees can participate in a variety of activities that align with Ecova’s mission of architecting the future of energy and sustainability.

“More than ever before, we recognize that delivering sustainable results for our clients requires us to provide the right data and insight, in order to drive meaningful action,” said Martin Sieh. “We work closely with the businesses and utilities we serve to define immediate and long-term goals, then track progress towards those goals in a transparent, defensible manner as we do with our own goals. Our 2016 Corporate Responsibility Report and recent celebration of our 20th Anniversary mark important milestones in Ecova’s continued growth and pursuit of energy efficiency and sustainability.”
