IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vizient, Inc. is deeply disappointed by the actions of the U.S. House of Representatives and remains firmly opposed, along with other hospital and industry stakeholders, to the American Health Care Act (AHCA) in its current form. We urge the U.S. Senate to oppose this bill as currently drafted and to work with patients, providers, payors, and other stakeholders to improve the state of insurance access and affordability in America.
We have substantial concerns with the amendments to the current draft of the AHCA, in particular how the proposed waivers could increase costs to those with pre-existing conditions, impacting both individuals and providers. Coupled with the reduced coverage and the end of the Medicaid expansion, the legislation would cause millions of individuals to lose their health insurance coverage and put increasing strain on hospitals throughout the country. It is critical to learn what the impact of this legislation will be on the uninsured, and we believe the Congressional Budget Office’s analysis is crucial in advance of any future decisions.
