SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thumbtack, a local services marketplace that connects customers with skilled professionals, named Laszlo Bock, former Senior Vice President of People Operations at Google and New York Times best selling author, as a strategic adviser, effective immediately.
In Bock’s first formal advisory role post-Google, he will serve as a mentor and coach to leaders across Thumbtack, support the People Operations team with a special focus on recruiting efforts, and guide the company in building and protecting its high performance culture.
“No one knows how to leverage human potential at scale better than Laszlo, and that is exactly what we’re focused on at Thumbtack for both our pros who are starting and running small businesses, as well as our team,” said Jonathan Swanson, Thumbtack co-founder and President. “Laszlo will spend one day a week at Thumbtack as an executive coach for our leadership team, a mentor for our people and culture efforts and an advisor on how to best scale our marketplace.”
"I chose Thumbtack because of the parallels that I saw to Google in its early days, including their highly capable and collaborative leadership team, unified by a sense of purpose and mission in what they are building,” said Bock. “Thumbtack is uniquely positioned to create a tremendous amount of good in the workforce by matching skilled professionals with people who need every type of work done, and I love getting to be part of this team."
During his ten-year career at Google as its Senior Vice President of People Operations, Bock saw the company transform into a powerful global company, growing from 6,000 employees to nearly 75,000. With his team, Bock developed management strategies to make Google one of the most desirable places to work for top tech talent, which he wrote about in his book, "Work Rules!" a New York Times best seller.
