Veritas Enhances Enterprise Vault for U.S. Government Managing Government Records Directive

First FedRAMP Authorized data archiving solution built to address Capstone approach to email management

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Veritas Technologies, the leader in information management, today announced the release of Veritas Enterprise Vault™ 12.1, the first FedRAMP Authorized SaaS data archiving solution enhanced to enable the Capstone approach to managing email records electronically. This release will help customers to quickly and effectively address the Managing Government Records Directive, an effort by the U.S. Government to help reform records management policies and simplify the transition to electronic-based records management for federal agencies.

Enterprise Vault captures all email and files in an electronic format, allowing organizations to better control and manage their information and efficiently oversee and search archives. Enterprise Vault 12.1 features designed specifically to support the Capstone approach developed by the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) include the following:

  • Default categories for archived email and files: automatically provision a record type – permanent, temporary or custom – via retention category and specify how long archived items should be retained.
  • Reclassification of records where appropriate: provide agencies with the flexibility to set and reset record types through automated or manual reclassification.
  • Simplified disposition: export records from Enterprise Vault in load files compatible with NARA specifications.

The exponential growth of data has presented storage, efficiency and cost challenges for federal agencies and forced a new operating paradigm. The U.S. Federal Government, in particular, has pursued a Cloud First Initiative and a Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) to drive greater operational efficiencies in existing data centers, along with reduced IT capital costs through the adoption of cloud solutions. Enterprise Vault 12.1 is enhanced specifically to support these initiatives by helping agencies intelligently target and classify archived content within a holistic information governance strategy.

“Our federal customers are facing imminent Directive deadlines set forth by the National Archive and Records Administration and the Office of Management and Budget,” said Tom Kennedy, vice president and GM, public sector for Veritas. “Veritas is committed to helping federal agencies through their digital transformations while ensuring transparency, efficiency and accountability. With Enterprise Vault 12.1, agencies will be well equipped to address notable directive goals – for example, Goal 1.2, which specifies federal agencies will manage both permanent and temporary email records in an accessible electronic format by December 31, 2016.”

Veritas archiving solutions are used by tens of thousands of customers worldwide across key vertical industries, including more than half of all of the largest U.S. federal agencies. Veritas is the only vendor to be recognized as a leader in the Gartner “Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Information Archiving” for 12 consecutive years. Enterprise Vault 12.1 is available either on premises or as a FedRAMP Authorized SaaS-level, Moderate impact cloud service.
